As a fan of Liz Carlyle already, it was surprising to find that this was one of her very best stories. A beautiful love story that spanned over 16 years with fascinating character development. Not just another historical romance but deeply inspriring on an emotional and intellectual level.

I enjoyed the characters. This book was a bit hard for me to get through. It's not that bad but just a little too slow. Liked the hero and heroine. It was just a little too long and drawn out.

this could have been a boring book but all the characters,major & minor, were so well developed, that one couldn't help but be drawn into their world. i especially liked helene's understanding of the traumatized child whose type of affliction was a twist to the usual governess stories and cam's deep affection for his child. i'm not a big liz carlyle fan but i would read this book again.

Liz Carlyle gives me makes me feeing that I am reading a true classic. For some odd reason I found this book to be on the rather dark and dreary side.Yet I still really liked it.The characters of Cam and Helene are wonderful. I only wish there had been more romance in the story and less mystery.

I plan on reading more from L. It's not often that one is that worthy. Here's another (rare) 5 star book. Carlyle. I get tired of reading lame books. You'll truly enjoy the story of Camden and Helene in this one. I hope you like this one as well as I did. Happy reading.
